Dr Herron is one of only a few physicians nationwide who has been awarded certification by the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFMCP), The American Board of OB/GYN (ABOG), and The American Board of Physician Specialties for Integrative Medicine.  She has 27 years of experience providing healthcare to women. Dr Herron is also a 200 hour certified yoga instructor.

I have been a practicing Obstetrician and Gynecologist since completing my residency at the University of Rochester, Strong Memorial Hospital in 2000. In 2018, I completed a two-year fellowship in Integrative Medicine, under the direction of Dr. Andrew Weil at the University of Arizona.  My functional medicine education and certification is through the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFMCP).

I, like many Functional Medicine providers, have undergone my own health challenges and found wellness through less traditional methods.  My desire to bring both my personal experience and professional expertise to other women sparked my pursuit of Integrative and Functional Medicine.  My philosophy is simple; I view myself as a highly skilled medical advocate who views women as active participants in their own healthcare.

My mission is to help you achieve vibrant health and wellness.

I also offer Genomic Curation.  My master class training was under the direction of Dr. Peter D’adamo.  Discovering your unique genetic profile can identify alterations in the metabolism of your neurotransmitter, fats, vitamins, and minerals.  Based on this information you receive personalized recommendations to optimize your lifestyle, diet, exercise, medications, supplements, and mind-body practices.

Functional Medicine and genetics are intimately connected due to epigenetics.  Epigenetics refers to changes in gene expression based on environmental conditions.  “Environmental conditions” include the food we eat, our ability to manage stress, adequate sleep, our level of physical activity, and our daily ubiquitous toxin exposure.  We may not be able to change the genes we inherit, but our choices and behaviors may determine whether a particular gene is expressed.

Genetics load the gun, but environment pulls the trigger.

Did that get your attention? I hope so because what we do, say, and even think (worry, anxiety) affect our genetic expression.

Enough about me. I hope to see you soon on your journey to wellness!
